Since 1988, Construction Information Systems, Inc. has been helping construction firms select software, convert their data, successfully implement it, train their employees and customize it.
In the mid-1980s, Paul Unter embarked on his journey as an assistant controller for a General Construction Company in Queens, NY, while pursuing an accounting degree. It was during this time that Paul made a pivotal decision for that company, selecting its first software package: The ConstructionManager, a DOS-based integrated job cost accounting solution from Software ShopSystems. This marked the dawn of the personal desktop computer era, with businesses just beginning to adopt software for use in the personal desktop market.
Paul worked closely alongside Software Shop’s implementation team, effectively guiding them through the transition from a manual one-write system to Software Shop’s Construction Manager. His proficiency in technology caught the attention of Apex Computer Systems, the reseller for Software Shop, leading them to approach Paul to spearhead full-time implementation and training for other construction firms undergoing similar transitions. In this role, he handled software implementation, training sessions, as well as server installations and Novell networks.
It was during this period that Paul crossed paths with Theresa Corso, an assistant controller at a Brooklyn-based construction company and fellow Software Shop user. In 1987, Software Shop Systems presented Paul and Theresa with an opportunity to establish their own software sales and implementation company.
Thus, in 1988, Construction Information Systems, Inc. was founded, with Paul and Theresa bringing their unparalleled expertise to the Upstate Capital Region of New York. With a wealth of experience in implementing systems for construction firms of all specialties and sizes in the Metropolitan NY area, Paul became a sought-after resource for contractors seeking to automate and streamline their business processes using desktop computers. By 1994, they embraced Timberline Construction Software, now Sage Construction Software.
Fast forward 36 years, Construction Information Systems, Inc. has aided over 650 construction companies in selecting and successfully implementing software solutions. Their client roster includes some of the largest and most prominent contractors in the New York City and Upstate New York region. Today, with a team of software and hardware experts, they continue to provide their customers with cutting-edge tools to enhance their business operations.
